This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

As you will have read in both of Martin’s books, there is GPR Radar evidence of a
tunnel out from this battery anyway.
The biggest majority of the eyewitnesses all seemed to recall entering the tunnel
complex from this main gun pit, and although - by way of photographs - I have been
unable at this point to prove or disprove the existence of hidden tunnels leading
to or from this immediate area of the 8” gun pit, or the old southern one on this
level, does not mean there aren’t any. Martin says that given time he can demonstrate
from GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) that there are tunnels here and especially around
the northern old gun area where I’ve shown.
The circumstantial evidence of gun pits like this and other gun pits around NZ -
and in fact around the world, surely shows that there are underground facilities
missing from these existing underground complexes on North Head. From just what I
have presented to date, (not taking into account all that Martin has done) you’d
have to admit there are a lot of rather strange things on that hill!
As I was correcting problems with uploading this update to the web, I once again
stumbled over another photo from 1958 that shows the tunnel Joan Dighton/Robinson
spoke of on the NE Corner of the tennis court. This “small tunnel” goes “into the
bank” exactly as she said. This bank is no longer there.
I have lots more I can show you, but at this present time I am getting way behind
in all my normal duties, so I will have to leave it for a little while..... But
do check in from time to time.
