This site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories! Gavin Grimmer
This Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft departed Gisborne at 2.22 pm on a mission to search for an unidentified merchant ship that the Navy had called to be investigated. It was one of three Vickers Vincents that were on the mission. It was expected that it would return no later than 6.22 pm - four hours later. The course it was instructed to fly on was on a line from Gisborne, over Portland Island, and then to a position about 20 miles south of Cape Turnagain. From there it was to return to Gisborne. The last radio contact was received from NZ332 at 4.44 pm, but NZ332 seemed to be having trouble receiving as when they were instructed to “carry on” there wasno reply. One of the other aircraft on he mission (NZ334) called one minute later to say that they had heard no reply from NZ332. NZ332 was never heard, or seen again
