This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

On one of the photos taken on my SLR camera I found an object that looked totally out of character to the rest of the bush. It is shown on the photo above with the blue “box” around it.

Note the density of the bush and also the steepness.

To all intensive purposes, it appeared to be a Hughes 500 lying on it’s side and in an attempt to prove it, I found a photo of a Hughes 500 on the Internet, scaled it down and printed it onto a sheet of paper.

I then cut it out minus the “dog box” and rotor blades on the top, and the rear section of the tail pod, to suit that as in the photo. I then overlaid it on the image in the photo and that is shown below.

I also cut the section off it that was obscured by the tree branches.

You’ll note that it fitted on the image perfectly!

It still didn’t really show what I was trying to portray and after thinking about it a lot, I suddenly thought, “ I wonder what it would look if I used the bottom section of the helicopter cut-out that I had cut off, and show what you could not see due to the branches.”.  On the next page you will observe the outcome:
