This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

The general belief was that Roy had crashed into the sea...the easiest way of justifying
not searching anymore, but in this case I don’t believe this is what happened for
two reasons:
1/ There has never been any wreckage found from their plane washed up on the beach,
even after 29 years!
2/ There was a young girls suitcase that was made of basically cardboard, washed
up on Greens Beach at a later date, about 30 n.miles further up the coast, and found
by a Gold Prospector. There was known to have been a northerly drift in the currents
at the time as northerly currents bring the gold into that area.
In the suitcase was a young girls clothes all neatly packed and amongst them was
a tartan dress the same as one shown being worn by young Kim Turner in a family photograph.
This suitcase was handed in to the Police, but unfortunately there is no knowledge
of what happened to it.
The period of time that this suitcase was found after the Turner’s disappearance
is not known - only that it was some time after their disappearance.
If it had been found a short time after this aeroplane had disappeared, then it would
have been immediately suspected as coming from this plane and so a lot of importance
would have been placed on it. The fact that that didn’t, shows that there had to
be quite a time period between the disappearance and finding the suitcase.
Ask yourself, how does a little girl’s (she was six years old) clothes get to be
floating in the ocean?
The circuits depicted below means he would have traveled around 12 n.miles per circuit
(6+ minutes travel time... “found it strange that he again heard it about 5 to 10
minutes later”) and the descent over Three Mile Lagoon would explain the lady hearing
a plane motor, then silence as the power was pulled back to idle to descend rapidly,
and then the crash into the hill.
A 12 n.mile orbit may sound like a long way to non-pilots, but a Cessna 172 type
aeroplane can easily do close to this distance just orbiting an airfield before coming
in to do a landing.
