This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

On the 16th February 2012, Kieran Heney flew me in the R22 helicopter up to the site.
Within seconds of us over-flying the area, I felt that this object had to be another
illusion as the “scrub” was only tussock grass - the type not capable of overgrowing
an aircraft.
I had come to the belief that the object had become overgrown by overlaying a 2004
aerial photograph on Google Earth over the 1990 photograph overlay, and by fading
that overlay in and out, it appeared that the object was still there, but only the
wing tips could still be seen as per in the image below (just above the Cessna 180
overlay)
When you look at the actual photo we took from the helicopter (below), you’ll see
in the middle of the photo a white area that has the approximate shape of an aeroplane,
and this what
I immediately took as being responsible for the object seen on the 1990 photo. However,
on further comparison for the purposes of writing this article, I noticed on the
image above, that I have the 2004 overlay not placed in the correct position. If
you look to the right of the Cessna 180 overlay, you will notice the white areas
shown in the photo.
