This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

Although I did not mention it in the Sightings Report, I believed this object could well have been  ZK-BMP for the following reasons:

1/  Below are two images taken in Google Earth 3D with the 1990 aerial photo overlaid on it.

The one on the left is of the photo untouched, and the one on the right is with a “scaled to size” Cessna 180 image overlaid on the overlay. Although the Cessna 180 is not quite photographed on the correct angle, you’ll note that it does fit in rather well.

2/  Below is two more Google Earth images showing the direct track from the outlet of Wilmot Pass to Riversdale. A policeman who was originally involved with the original seach, said that no-one was ever able to explain whose plane was heard flying in the Wilmot Pass/ Percy Saddle area that day, so the report in the newspaper quoted earlier was wrong (as Newspaper articles quite often are!)

This object is within 500 ft of that track, exactly where you’d expect it to be if it had run out of fuel as per the reasoning's on pages 21 and 22 of this article!
