This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

So how did we do on our recent search you might ask?

Personally, I think we did a pretty good job of it - don’t you think? Especially
when you realise these tracks are only of the person holding the GPS and does not
cover the person walking over to one side.
You’ll note in some areas there are gaps, but from what I can remember of where Les
and I walked, those gaps were because the terrain was just too dangerous - huge cliffs
and bluffs - and being steep, we were able to see quite a way down them to the next
grid line anyway.
The beauty with this system is that all you need to do is give each team waypoint
numbers (eg: 5 to 10) and that is their area of responsibility to search.
Working on the ‘heading’ system, there is a tendency to slowly drift off course,
whereas with this way you know exactly where the course is... it doesn’t alter.
I do hope that this system is of benefit to others in the future....
