This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories! Gavin Grimmer
This means that as the tunnel is between 95 to 100 ft long (measured on GE) that
there is a total rise from 60 ft to 69 ft over the length of it (1 in 11). Allowing
for the height of the tunnel being at a guess of 7 ft (?), this means that at the
position of the Placemark at the top of the tunnel, the ceiling of the tunnel will
be 5 ft down from the surface as the height of the ground at that point is 54 ft
ASL.
I would say that the "60 ft" tunnel entrance position on the map is only a generalization
as according to GE it is 54 ft, but if you go a few feet horizontally either side
of that point(according to GE) it does get up to 60 ft which kind of indicates that
there is a bit of a hollow in the hill side there - Maybe due to the surrounding
dirt being shoveled into the tunnel entrance?
